Rainy Sunday in Tegernsee

Today was pretty quiet which was nice after all the traveling and tournaments. It rained hard last night and into the morning, but the courts here dry unbelievably quickly. I supposed if they didn’t no one would play much tennis…there’s a reason everything is so green here in summer. The weather change is nice, it’s gone from the 90s to the low 60s/upper 50s in only a couple of days. Tegernsee is about 700 meters though, around 2300 feet. Below are photos of the courts, clubhouse, children’s playground and miniature golf, ie photos from the area around the tennis club.

I was able to rent a bike today. It’s about a 15-20 minute ride to the courts. It’s not all that far but the roads are narrow and it’s hard to go fast. Anyway, I was lucky to get a hit in at 11 for 90 minutes…it was sprinkling as I left and started raining pretty steadily later on.

this week's wheels

On Sundays all the stores, other than those at gas stations, railway stations and the like are closed in Germany. So there’s not a lot to do on a rainy Sunday unless one likes hiking/walking in rainy cool weather.

On the main street going in and out of Tegernsee there’s a billboard with two advertisements this week…one is for the tournament I’m playing which is pretty cool. tournament sign on main road in Rottach

I found out today I don’t play till Thursday…the tournament is supposed to start on Tuesday for my division, but the tournament director has other ideas…since it supposedly ends Saturday, he counts back from there to figure the start times, or so I’ve been told. So I have lots of time to practice this week. Tuesday the weather should be better…when the sun shines this place is gorgeous.

  1. Thanks for another fine report & photos on your journey around Europe! Watching Halep/Bencik?sp. from Toronto with lots of service breaks, but good fun on a Sunday afternoon! So, carry on, Carolyn!
