USA Advances to Medal Rounds in Eight of Nine Cups in Florida

USA Teams took the “super” part of Super Senior World Team Championships seriously…they played super at the USTA National campus this week. All but the men’s 75 advanced to the medal rounds today. The men’s 70 played Zimbabwe, knowing that they had won the four team round robin before playing them. That didn’t stop them from a great effort, with Dean Corley and Les Buck taking the doubles point after Jimmy Parker tied up the match at 1/1 with his singles win.

The USA Kitty Godfree Cup team swept Japan. Wendy McColskey lost only 2 points in her win at #2 singles.

The USA women’s 70 team had a day off before they face South Africa tomorrow.

The USA women’s 75 team finished their round robin with a sweep of Argentina.

The USA women’s 80 team also advanced with a 3/0 win over Germany. Roz King scored a decisive win over world #1 Van Boemmel at #1 singles.

The USA men’s 65 team dominated Croatia, losing only four games in the three matches played.

The men’s 80 team took out France 3/0

The men’s 85 swept Great Britain.

The men’s 75 fell to Netherlands 2/1.

  2. Thank you for the information, I enjoy reading your news about tennis.
There seems to be an error in the USTA rankings for M80s and M85s as a series of numbers appear instead of the rankings.
