Carter, Cheney Win Singles in Seattle

Brenda Carter and Brian Cheney each won two gold balls in Seattle at the 60 Indoors. Carter won the singles and combined with Hugh Thomson to win the mixed. Cheney won the men’s singles and combined with Dan Bohannon to win the men’s doubles. Thomson was the finalist in singles and doubles losing in three sets in both finals (and had multiple match points in the singles final before losing 76 in the third.). Janet Watanabe reached her first national singles final, upsetting Molly Hahn to reach the final. Molly Hahn/Mary Delay beat Sheila Johnson/Ellen Goodman to win the doubles in another three set thriller.
