It rained again in NY. All the back draw matches today were played on clay.

In the 40s Julie Cass dominated Michelle Wright. Vesna McKenna was leading Amy Alcini 60 34, on serve when their match was suspended for the day due to rain as was all doubles.

In the 50s the top 4 seeds reached the semis, Wright, Harris, Thompson, Karwasky.

In the 60s Betty Wachob, a beautiful grass court player, beat her doubles partner, Brenda Carter 76 62 to reach the semis against Heide Orth. Orth had to go three sets to get past Molly Hahn. Anne Guerrant beat Judy Louie 76 62 and Martha Downing beat Pat Keleman 61 61.

In the 70s Lynn Little upset 8th seeded Burnett Herrick.

Hopefully it will dry up tomorrow…here in California in the Central Valley the weather is gorgeous.
