I lost to Susan Wright 67 63 75…bummer, about 4.5 hours. Diane beat Joanne Russell pretty decisively 61 62.
Vesna McKenna beat her doubles partner Sue Kaleel in 3 sets, rallying from a set down. She fell and slightly injured her ankle, at 52 up in the third, but finished off the match and won a doubles match afterwards, so seems to be fine. Renata Marcinkowska was down 25 in the quarters when she began the day and ended the day in the final. She beat Trudy Vermeer 76 62, then beat Amy Alcini 62 in the third. She won the first set then had 2 match points in the 2nd set, lost it, and cleaned up in the third. At one point Amy was jumping rope on a changeover while Renata wearlily looked on…Amy has a lot of energy.
All seeds reached the doubles semis without drama.
The back draw went on and on today…some players having up to 5 matches, so the doubles was no ad 2 out of 3 sets and the singles was 8 game pro sets.
I play Joanne tomorrow at 9, and Chris and I play Debbie Croft/Pam Cooke later in the doubles semis.
