Seeded 9th, he took out #2 seeded Chris Bennett, Marlton, NJ, and #4 seeded Geoff Cykman, San Francisco, CA (his doubles partner), en route to the final. There he face 9th seeded Philip Dubsky, Geneva, OH. Dubsky took out top seeded Sal Castillo, san Antonio, TX, in a tense match (76 in the third), #5 Phil Moss, NY,NY, and #3 seeded Andrew Stanley, Lake Sherwood, CA in three sets before succumbing to Martinez’ aggressive play in the final.
