Oldsmar Saturday

Most matches finished today. The top seeds won in the 40s 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s singles.

Maria Drew edged Karen Olsen, the local favorite 64 in the third to win the 40s.

Diane Fishburne beat Carolyn Nichols 63 62. Onlookers commented on how many times Fishburne hit lines, but it didn’t seem like she hit more than usual… She is very accurate with her shots. The ball off her racquet sounds lout and crisp and the resulting bullets hit their targets.

Kerry Young put in a nearly flawless performance to beat Carol Clay 60,61in the 60s but Brenda Carter and Toni Novack played for hours. Brenda won 64 in the third to place third.

Ria Graham beat Joan Nevins to win the 79s and Jane Lutz won the 80s.

The top 2 seeds face off in the 50s doubles draw, both going 3 sets in the process.

Young/Novack won the 60s dbls. Clay/Goodman and Babb/Carter were in a third set of the doubles 3/4 playoff when I left.

Weather wS excellent today, tournament was nice with a full feed/in in singles.
