So Cal 45s are into the semis against defending champions Texas. The trio of Gretchen Magers, Jennifer Lyons and Colleen Ferrell dropped only one game in singles against Northern. The 45s team had to look up what states Northern encompassed (mostly Minnesota, but also parts of Wisconsin, etc.). Ferrell-Lyons and Tracy Worley-Hagen/JJ Joseph won the doubles points to complete the 5/0 win. The match was delayed by rain till almost 2pm, but the SoCal players finished just before dark.

The SoCal 35s didn’t play today, they played yesterday and had a bye today. The other side of the draw though pitted Southern and Florida, the #3 and #2 seeds in the semis and they were having terrific matches. I left before the conclusion, so don’t know who won. All I know is that captain Trish Riddell was not playing singles despite being the 2011 grass court champion in this division…that’s how strong Florida is. Yesterday SoCal beat defending champions Texas in the first round.

Play starts at 8am tomorrow for #1 and #2 singles with #3 singles to follow as courts open up.
