The USA Connolly Cup team, Diane Barker, Susan Wright, Carolyn Nichols (playing captain) and Leslie Airola Murveit beat Sweden today 3/0. Lorna Krog, the ITF representative from So Africa was impressed with Wright’s hard, flat strokes. Susan was nearly flawless today, with a couple of double faults her only errors in the first set…in fact they were the only points she lost in that set! Susan won 60 60; Diane won 60 61 and Leslie and I won 60 62 (it’s pressure to follow their performance for sure…especially since Leslie and I have never played doubles before together. )

Rain started around 2:30 in the San Diego area, but fortunately most matches had finished and the few which had not were finished with singles.

We play tomorrow against Canada (which lost to Sweden), warm up at 8am and play starts with #2 singles at 9:15, with #1 singles,then doubles to follow sequentially.
