Why are there no gold balls for NTRP winners?
Because they are level based tournaments I suppose. And they aren’t open to all comers as are senior events (if you are the appropriate age). But you’d have to ask the USTA that question. I think they receive their own special award, which seems appropriate.
How is Gold Ball different than other tournaments?
USTA Level 1 Age Division tournaments are the highest level ranking tournaments. There are currently three offered per age division for adults (30-90+) on three surfaces: clay, grass and hard courts. Gold balls are awarded only for winners in singles, doubles and mixed in these divisions; also in family divisions (husband/wife, spouse/spouse, father/daughter, mother/daughter, father/son, mother/son). Previously gold balls were also awarded to Indoor champions but no more. Not all age divisions in mixed are currently offered as Level 1 events. Level 1 events are “open” to anyone who meets the age/family requirements, there are no restrictions to certain NTRP levels for example.
Have you heard when level 1 schedules will be out for 2023?
I thought someone said in October?
I just posted something a few hours ago. Will expand on it soon.
The complete schedule is not yet posted but 22 tournaments are as of now
Are medics a requirement by the USTA for level 1 tournaments?
According to the USTA they are not.
