Hello. I am looking for a 3.5 70-75 seniors tournament. I’m interested in possibly playing singles as well as doubles (I have a 3.5 70+ player to partner with). I swear I received a newsletter from USTA recently containing a grid showing available tournaments, but I can no longer find it! Can you help? Thanks so much!
I have reached out to the Usta to see if such a category exists. I mostly cover senior tournaments that do not have NTRP level limits. I’m at a tournament right now and out of the country but I will be back at the end of the month and if I don’t send you any information by then please reach out to me again, and I will research this.
Carolyn. Do you have the 2025 national women’s schedule yet?? Looking to find dates for 60’s nationals clay CTs in 2025
I posted it weeks ago and the link is on the front page of my website. 60 clay are the last week of March in Palm Beach Gardens
I’m new to the seniors tournaments (turning 65 in Dec). I’m A former WTA player and want to start competing again. Do you have any direction for me on how to start? Do I have to play USTA lower level senior tournaments to get qualified for the higher level tournaments? I believe I’m about a 5.0-5.5 UTR level. I live in Los Angeles. Thanks for the advise!
Kathy, great that you are interested in masters age division tournaments.
1: You do not have to play lower level tournaments in order to play higher level ones. You can start with nationals and if you are a 5.0 or 5.5 at age 65 that’s where you should start, with Level 2 and Level 1 (gold ball)
2: In SoCal there is a big tournament in the Palm Desert area (Level 2/ITF 700); deadline is around the end of December. It’s a good place to start, has singles/doubles/mixed and the mixed 60s anyway is a Level 1
3: Also in SoCal are the following nationals: 65 Hard in late October in Rancho Mirage; 60 Grass in the fall I think in Rancho Mirage; 60 Hard at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club the first week of May
4: ITF World Championships will be in Florida this year. Anyone can enter…you have to get an Ipin (free but there’s an ipin fee for every ITF tournament baked into the entry fees); to to ipin.itftennis.com
5: I have the schedule on my website though I’m still working on putting the links up at carolynnichols.com.
6: Some tournament directors will help with finding doubles partners, some don’t, but you can always start with singles…if you make a splash, people will find you
6: Feel free to follow up with further questions.
