The cold, wet weather of last week has turned to warm and sunny weather in Palm Beach Gardens this week (76 today with light winds), just in time for the first clay women’s tournament of the year. The tournament is being held at the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center, site of the 2025 World Championships for the 60/65/70 divisions.

There were not many matches today, but play heats up tomorrow with quarterfinal rounds in the 60 & 70s, and round robin play in the 80s, while first round matches start in the 50s.
There were a few long matches, with Shula Feuer winning in three sets over Anna Greer in the 70s (to face #3 seed Becky Timmis) and Kathleen Timberlake surviving a long battle with Tiina Bougas-Smith (still making a comeback after a 12 year layoff).
I had a good doubles practice today and play tomorrow morning at 10:30 against Donna Drosner. Christina Kaus won today and plays Catherine Morgan tomorrow; Susan Wright is still warming up for her debut on Wednesday.

Susan Boyer and Shelly Works are on a collision path in 60 singles, but both need to win a match first.
