Chamisal, the (belated) end

Saturday the only final was the 35s doubles and Shelly Works/Pam Dodman "worked over" the #3 seeds, the ubiquitous (every time I looked they were playing another doubles match!) 63 64. Works kept Cooke/Croft off the net with her accurate backhands, and set up Dodman who finished things off well at the net. Stillman-Scott/Kerwin-Payne beat Alcini/Dailey for the bronze.

In singles though Diane Kakareka won her 45 consolation singles match against Kathy Vick (match time exceeded 3 hours and went to 75 in the third), she was nonetheless "vick-tomized) by Vick, as she was unable to play the next day and Vick/Fran Chandler beat Diane in the consolation doubles semis too. Chandler/Vick beat Tracey Thompson/Jane Robertson in the fic final to place 5th. Carolyn Nichols placed in singles, beating Judy Newman Rakela (who took out Kim Lackey and Mary Johnson), 75 62 in the consolation semis.

That’s a wrap from Chamisal. Next blogs will be from Turkey starting around Oct 6th.
