Yesterday I warmed up with MJ Pachl, then played at 10:30 against Anita Hoelting of Germany, a very nice lady who is still learning the game and improving.

After the match Toni Novack and I went shopping, first to a nearby town of Radenthein where we were told we could find some shops. There were a couple of grocery stores…and a cute downtown but not much shopping.
We ended up going to old town Villach…I was looking for leggings and Toni for souvenirs. I should have googled for sports stores (I did that on our return…there are three…maybe tomorrow) but found 1 pair of leggings and Toni found a few souvenirs. Villach old town is touristy, cute, with a wide pedestrian street, lots of restaurants and cafes and a couple of churches.

After we returned, Toni to play a dice game with friends and I to do some exercises and stretching, I went a bit late to dinner, but found Pauline Fisher and what’s her name (she knows who she is) and we had a nice dinner, and Kerry and Ian Ballard joined us…
I also ran into Kathy Langer who is one of the Friendship Cup administrators/managers for Mary Wilson. She told me about her adventure arriving here…Ann Moore the other administrator missed her flight from Frankfurt to Ljubljana, Slovenia (her flight from Tampa was delayed…thunderstorms). So Kathy (who is 85) rented a stick shift to drive to Feld am See…normally a 1.5 hour drive or so…she made it in one piece by 10 pm she said. Ann was supposed to be the navigator. Not sure what happened to her navigation program but she probably saw a lot of Slovenia & Austria on that drive. Makes my drive in the rain which stretched a 2.2 hour drive to around 3 hours seem like a piece of cake.
The weather yesterday was lovely and the high around 70 degrees. Today is cooler but fine, though it’s already rained some. The forecast for tomorrow looks grim with 100% chance of rain, around 1.5 inches of rain and a high around 50 degrees with some wind. Friday the chance of rain is greater, the temperatures lower and windier. Welcome to Austria!
