I played my first round in the Mallorca MT 1000 in Font de sa Cala today. I played at the Son Besso Tennis Club which was very nice. I warmed up at 9am with Laura De Vittori, then went back at 11:30 for my noon match and as there was a court available, we started early. I played Jutta Gorski from Germany.
We played the Kitty Godfree Cup competition at this club in 2023, and the women who run the club and take care of the courts remembered me. The courts are in fabulous condition.
After my match I first did a bit of scouting for my next match, then returned to my apartment for lunch. I passed Lidl on the way back and it was actually open, on a Sunday! Later I walked over to the Beach Club to reserve a practice court for tomorrow, watch some tennis and ran into Pam Schulz from California, who was getting ready to go on for mixed doubles. I also ran into Ann Stanley, the top seed in the W75 this week and some other players I know from tournaments.
Hopefully we start our doubles tomorrow, our opponents were playing today.
