Into Singles/Doubles Finals in Barcelona

Draws are here.

There hasn’t been much to write about since Wednesday (now it’s Saturday). I had a day off on Thursday, was set to play the singles semis last night against Rosemary Everett, but she came down with a bug (fever and all, in bed for several days) and could only play doubles. We played doubles last night against a couple of club members (one of whom was 82) and won.

Tonight I play Carmen Chillida, who was unseeded but who trounced the #2 seed 60 61, winning all the close games and playing very well. We also have the doubles final against the #2 seeds scheduled.

Debbie Higa and her Italian partner Luisa Gioia won their semifinal doubles match last night and play the top seeds tonight.

I did make it down to the El Corte Ingles, a huge department store with a grocery store in the basement. I found some delicious Marcona almonds there and a Uno de 50 kiosk (jewelry), and also got my Spanish phone’s SIM card fixed (somehow it thought I had used 145 gb of data instead of 15 and stopped working).
