Americans Reach Finals in Turkey

Several  Americans reached the final of the super senior individual championships in Turkey today.
 
In the men’s 60’s, Jimmy Parker is in the singles final. He’s also in the doubles semis with Ken Robinson, as are Hugh Thompson/Leland Housman. Housman fell in the semis of the singles.
 
In the men’s 70’s, it’s an all American final between King Van Nostrand and Gordon Davis. Davis is also in the doubles semis, with Richard Doss.
 
In the men’s 75’s, Russell Seymour fell to Lorne Main 76 60, but is still alive in the doubles semis, as are teammates DeVoe/Davis.
 
In the men’s 80’s, Graydon Nichols reached the final with an easy win, but Tony Franco was edged 75 64 by the top seed, Jirkovsky, 75 64. Nichols/Franco are in the doubles semis.
 
In the women’s 60’s, Suella Steel and Charleen Hillebrand are alive in the doubles, on opposite ends of the draw.
 
In the women’s 65′, Donna Fales of the USA has upset the 4th, 5th and 2nd seeds to reach the final against Rosie Darmon. Fales beat Jeannie Lieffrig in 3 close sets in the semis. She is also in the doubles semis, as are Doris deVries/Susanne Clark, who beat a seeded team in the quarters. Fales, as well as Darmon are former world class players, and Fales owns some grand slam doubles titles.
 
In the women’s 70’s, Boots Van Nostrand and Mary Boswell both lost in the semis, but Boswell/Belmar Gunderson are in the doubles semis.
 
In the 75’s, Louise Russ beat her teammate Olga Mahaney decisively to reach the final against her doubles partner, Diane Hoffman. She and Hoffman are in the doubles final against the Canadian team of Asch/Jones.
