Susan Wright started slowly , but once warmed up played evenly with
Fishburne till 5/5 in the third at which point Fishburne won the final
games and the claycourt title. It was the 2nd day in a row that Wright
had to play to 65 in the third (though the match today was "only" about
3 hours long, it was extremely physical). However, the strain of so
much play was not evident during the rallies, which were intense, hard
hitting baseline affairs. Nichols took the bronze by default over
Russell.
