Heidi Eisterlehner: 1949-2025

Heide Eisterlehner passed away peacefully at home, age 75. She was a legend in Masters Tennis, winning numerous Masters titles including multiple world championships in singles and doubles. In her youth she played all four grand slams, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 1976 and the third round of Roland Garros twice.

I played against her in Baden Baden in 2011 and she was a fantastic player. She was playing down into the 55s, having won the tournament the previous six years I think! We also played doubles a few times, enjoyed some dinners at tournaments, and had some good warmups at tournaments. I considered her a friend, and am glad I knew her. The tennis community will really miss her.

  3. Oh Caroline that is such sad news, Max, my husband played and won a number of XD in Europe with Heide. We are devastated.
