Into the Semis in La Manga; Rain in Spain is Likely Thursday

Jenny and I both reached the singles semis. Jenny allowed the #3 seed only one game in “upsetting” her 60 61. I won 60 60 against an unseeded Russian player. I play Jenny Chin, who upset the #3 seed today and Jenny plays the tpo seed, Scola, from Italy tomorrow, weather permitting. We also won our first round (round of 16) in doubles over a British pair. We won 61 60 and Jenny played a terrific match, scampering all over the court; I didn’t need to do much!

In between matches we watched some lawn bowling. I think it’s played somewhat like shuffleboard, but on grass with the participants dressed in white and playing as teams. This is a very British part of Spain.

The Gala dinner is tonight…so more tomorrow. 80% chance of rain though and doubles has already been reduced to best of 2 “short” sets (first to four games), with a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set.
