Another day in paradise…
The 40 Men’s/Women’s/Father/Son and Grandfather/Grandson Hard Courts began Monday. The draws are large even if down in numbers from previous years.
So far the biggest upset was Jeff Tarango pulling out of the singles after the draw was made…he was seeded #2 (and entered in 4 events, 3 of which he’s still playing).
The women’s semis of singles, and doubles final are tomorrow. Ironwoman Debbie Higa is in the singles (semis), doubles (final) and mixed (quarters) tomorrow after playing 3 matches today!
Top seeded Oren Motevassel and third seeded (and world 45s champion) Jeff Greenwald are on track to meet in the semis; Martin Barba, the 4th seed is on the bottom half of the draw.
The father/son mostly begins on Friday.
There was a nice dinner tonight, lasagna, salad, garlic bread and tiramisu and at least half the players were outside by the pool, the weather was very mild.
Players enjoyed the new and improved lights on courts 1 and 3. I enjoyed the newly resurfaced Courts 6 and 7 on Monday and Tuesday!
