Mike Tammen and Brenda Moore Blog for Fred Perry Cup and Individual World Championships from Turkey

Mike Tammen from Portland, Oregon is the playing captain of the 2013 USA Fred Perry Cup team. The Perry Cup competition, for men 50 and over is the senior equivalent to Davis Cup. The USTA sent 10 teams to Turkey: Men’s and women’s 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 and over teams. There are four players on each team, selected based on their tournament results over the past two years. Mike is the top player on this team.

His teammates are Bill Moss, Malibu, CA; Thomas Schlack, Long Beach, CA ; and Ken White, Elma, NY.

There are 31 different countries participating the the Perry Cup this year, and 190 teams and 31 countries participating overall in Turkey on 74 red clay courts.

Saturday: Carolyn’s Update: I was gone Saturday morning, but can report that Mark Vines and Wesley Cash beat Mike and Danny in the doubles final 64 63 and Danny Waldman won the singles title over Molina Ramos 63 62.
