Nice Day in Nice

Today was my last day in France. I ate carrot salad (my favorite), and baguette (so good…and cheap here), had a relaxed morning sleeping in, working out and packing up, then went out to explore and perhaps to shop a bit.

I did a fair amount of window shopping, wandered through Galleries Lafayette, picked up a chicken kabob and baguette for lunch in the main square (where I observed a bunch of armed police or military nearby…maybe because there were protests near the train station yesterday against Israel), and then walked towards Vieux Nice, the old town.

What’s up with all the stores selling plastic ducks?

The old town was busy…lots of markets, and it was lunchtime. I walked into the Eglise St Jacques le Majeur which was gorgeous inside and very pretty outside. I walked past the Cathedrale Sainte Reparate in Place Rosetta, another lovely busy square and church.

I next walked to the Promenade des Anglaise, but it started raining so I walked back to the hotel.

These people are sitting at the Quai des Etas Unis on the Promenade

I did buy some delicious chocolate with nuts along the way.

I went to the airport and caught my plane to Amsterdam and tomorrow morning I go back to the USA. It’s always fun to travel around, but it’s always nice to get home too.
