Palm Beach Gardens Level 2/ITF 700 Day 2: Successful Start

Draws are here.

Today was breezy…well windy…pretty warm and mostly overcast in Palm Beach Gardens. I played Kathy Heinze in singles on the front court (first time I had played singles there…the good thing was that the clubhouse blocked some of the wind; the bad thing was the noise…blowers on the porch and lots of activity on the porch). I won handily and face Susan Boyer tomorrow, who is always tough to play…very steady and an excellent competitor.

In doubles we played Pat Hirsch and Sheila Chiricosta. We had a wind-plagued match, but it was fun and we won…and face Terri Thyssen/Maryann Caplan in the semis tomorrow. The #4 seeds were upset by Susan Kirby/Cheryl Keller who face Erin Boynton/Sue Hatch of Canada tomorrow.

There are a lot of Canadians here!

Kathy Heinze, my first round opponent in the 60s, is in the 70s singles final where she will face Cindy Babb.

There were a lot of good doubles matches, especially in the 40s, where both matches were very close. There is a four team round robin being played, and all four teams are really tough!
