Hiromi Sasano, USA, won a long, tough match at #2 singles, rallying from 2/5 down in the first to win it 7/5, dropping the 2nd 7/5 and finishing strongly 6/1 in the third.

Julie Thu was up next for team USA and won 76 62 to clinch the win for USA.

The doubles was not played.

USA women 45 play Japan tomorrow. Japan beat top seeded France.

The weather is miserable in Tokyo, mid 50s with rain, so the matches are indoors. Captain Thu anticipated the rain and had her team practice indoors Tuesday.
