Roma!

Sunday we took trains from the Cinque Terre to La Spizia to Roma Termini, where Susan and I picked up our stored baggage (after a quick trip to Uniqlo…don’t ask). Taking a taxi took a long time (and though we were in the official taxi line, I’m not sure the taxi was legitimate since it did not have a meter running and the driver asked for cash at the end…second time that’s happened this trip).

We arrived at our new lodgings and dropped off our baggage before going to lunch downstairs. We are near the Vatican this trip. After lunch we accessed the apartment (it was being cleaned when we arrived), found grocery stores, and walked around the area. Later Tim and I walked to the Pantheon (which was packed with people…it was a Sunday evening and there had been a huge marathon…40,000 people…earlier in the day. We also went by Plaza Navona, Hadrian’s Mausoleum and the elegant Supreme Court building, and across statue lined bridges.
