Many thanks to Sue Bramlette, tournament director extraordinaire and Bob Bramlette, tournament supporter and tournament director supporter, to the Houston Racquet Club and to everyone who made this tournament fantastic, including all the grounds people.
Today started inauspicously when I locked my keys in the trunk of my rental car, but fortunately I had left really early (8am for a 9:30 warm up), AAA came to the rescue (after a human agent finally rescued me from the bots), and I got to the club by 9:15 or so. Our match was scheduled for 11am.
At the club I got my foot taped (heel), then warmed up with Susan (under 30 minutes, we don’t need a long warmup on the last day of the tournament!). We played about 2 1/4 hours but it felt longer since I did a lot of quick running and I was tired from my previous matches! Susan won 64 75 and I had a set point which Susan saved (as she did so many big points), with a backhand down the line. We are all set for the Cups in Turkey in good form!

We played the 3/4 playoff around 2:30 against Shannon, my singles opponent from yesterday, and Cindy Abel and won 2,1 in a match which was pretty long, about an hour and a half plus warm up. Susan hit a lot of great overheads. I hit the final one of the match though, for a winner.

In other 65 results, Bunnie Jackson edged Erin Boynton 64 76 for 5th and Ann Young (originally my first round opponent!) placed third with a 75 64 win over Shannon.
Boynton/Anne Frautschi won the doubles over Pat Purcell/Carolyn Lane 61 64.
Anne Guerrant (aka Mona Anne Guerrant) breezed through the 75s field, beating Toni Novack in the final; Guerrant never dropped more than 2 games a match this week. Brenda Carter finished third and Betty Wachob was 5th.
Liane Bryson/Kathy Bennett had. a good match with Carter/Wachob, winning 62 76. Janet Rice/Kristen Padberg finished 3rd.
Charlotte Hartsock beat Monica Yanagi of Brazil in the 55 final; Vicki Buholz took out Gayle Prejean in the 3/4 and Shelly Works edged Alice Stubbs in 3 sets to finish 5th.
Yanagi/Vasconcellos won the 55 doubles over Hartsock/Vroman, the top seeds. Vicki Buholz/Lori Robertson finished third.

Dorothy Wasser won the 85 singles and doubles (with Carol Wood).
Good bye to Houston, next a quick stop in California before going to Turkey!
