Successful Semifinal Day in Hanko

Draws are here.

Today started early with a long warmup as usual with Peter Gard, Rosemary Everett and me. Then I played my second round robin singles match with Heli Petaja of Finland. We had a few good points, but the match went my way. I play Gisella Wittkampf of Germany in the final. She edged Leena Ranta 64 in the third. I watched a bit of it then had to go play doubles.

Rosemary and I played an Estonian pair, Uelle Kirsimaegi/Kaie Ulper. We won 63 61…we were down 3-1, then won 10 games in a row before dropping one when 5-0 up in the second. They played an unusual style, one player whacking the ball and the other heavily undercutting it. It took a minute to figure it out. We play Aussie Julie Fidler and Luisa Gouveia from Portugal in the final.

Rosemary lost her singles in a tough three setter and Peter lost his singles but won doubles.

It was a sunny end to the day.
