Super Senior Cups Tuesday

All American teams were in action today. The most closely contested match was that between Germany and the USA in the Queens Cup, women’s 75. Burnett Herrick was out there with world #3, Ilse Michael for over 2 and a half hours before winning 64 in the third…she was up 52, and then up 54 40-0, squandered 2 match points and won the final point with a good retrieval of a short ball which she angled off.

In the Kitty Godfree Cup, women’s 65, Charleen Hillebrand dropped the first set to Judy Hancy at #1 singles before rebounding, and changing her strategy to use more off pace and drop shots. She won the match in three sets, getting better with each set.

Men’s 65 beat Finland; Men’s 75 beat Russia, with the only drama occurring when Gordon Hammes, who played #2 singles, finished in about 30 minutes and the team could not find King, who never expected the match to be so quick. One of the guys ran back to his room (10 minutes), retrieved King, who won handily. Men’s 60 beat Poland 3/0; Men’s 80 beat Spain 3/0;

Women’s 65 beat Australia, the 60s beat Switzerland, the 70s beat Ireland and of course the 75s beat Germany.

Nice day, some cloud cover…all is going well.
