USA Wins in Five of Six Cups Monday

USA Young Seniors teams won in all women’s ties today and USA also advanced in the men’s 35s and 45s.

The Margaret  Court Cup posted an impressive win over hosts Turkey, dropping only one game in three matches as Julie Cass (#one) and Shelly Works (#2) bageled their opponents and Vesna McKenna/Anna Zimmermann won the doubles point.

The Young Cup won both singles behind the play of Simona Bruetting at #2 singles and Debbie Spence-Nasim at # singles against Switzerland. Tracie Currie/Mitsumi Shirai are playing the doubles. All but Bruetting were making their Cup debut.

The Lenglen Cup advanced  behind the play of #2 Amanda Parson-Siegel (playing her first ever Cup match) and Gee Gee Garvin at # one singles. Parson-Siegel/Katerina Stanford played and won the doubles point against Sweden.

The Dubler Cup team beat Ireland. Curtis Dunn won at #2 singles and Kamil Kuchta won in his Cup debut at #one singles. Jeffrey Layman/Kline Sack played doubles.

The Italia Cup beat Ireland; Stuart Duncan won at #2 singles and Marcio Pepe, another player making his Cup debut, won at number one singles. Jared Jacobs/Chris Sanni played the doubles .

The Trabert Cup played a seed first round, Spain, and lost 3/0. Michael Chang played #2 singles, Josh Osswald played # one and doubles was played by Matt Jacobs and Josh Schofield. It’s a round robin though, followed by knockout play, so there are many more matches to play in every division.
