Julie Thu, USA had another great world championships, adding a second silver medal by reaching the singles final, to the silver she won in the 50s team event. She lost to Barbara Mulej of Slovenia, who has now won sever straight world championships!

Dana Gill and Kurt Kopp, USA M55 reached the doubles final where they fell to Max Duncker and Paul Haarhus of the Netherlands.

Klaartje Van Baarle of Belgium, playing down into the 55s didn’t miss a step in beating Jurate Hardy of Lithuania in the final.

Both men’s singles winners were from Spain. In the 50s, Roberto Menendez Ferre beat Argentinian Adriano Mucelli. In the 55s, Jordi Mas Rodriguez ousted Seb Jackson of GBR in the final. Mas Rodriguez also beat top seeded Eoin Collins in the semis.

Ulrik Laudrup Boelling and Kasper Warming of Denmark beat Paul Jan De Graaf and Jeroen Meijer of Netherlands in the men’s 50 doubles final.

The women’s 50 doubles was won by Mulej and Dominika Gorecka of Portugal over Emanuela Falleti and Valentina Padula of Italy.

The women’s 55 doubles final was an all-southern hemisphere affair between the Peruvian pair (and the 2022 champions) Lorena Rodriguez de Laura and Karin Strohmeier-Merino over Samantha-Jo Ewart of Australia and Brazilian Silvia Carina Mazzeo.

The Portuguese team of Sofia Prazeres and Lourenco Santos Lima beat Aussies Monika Biernat and Jarrod Broadbent to take the 50 mixed crown.

In 55 mixed Natalia Medvedeva (Russia or Belarus) and Haarhuis beat Brazilians Maxxeo and Mauro Araujo Klautau Medeiros de Araujo to take gold.
