Cheney, Swetka, Parker Win Singles Titles in April

The men’s 65 Clay Courts and men’s 60 Hard Courts were held last week, the former in New Orleans and the latter at Mission Hills near Palm Springs, CA. Jimmy Parker, above left, won the 65 clay courts beating surprise finalist Joe Bachman in a tough 75 64 match. Bachman upset the current world champion, Fred Drilling, in the semis. Parker combined with Ken Robinson to win the doubles over Drilling/Ray Lake. For all results, click here.

Brian Cheney, above right, successfully defended his men’s 60 hard court title with a hard fought three set win over Hugh Thomson. It was Thomson’s 4th straight three set match. David and Dan Bohannen won the doubles over Laurence Hammel/Stuart Malin. Hammel/Malin took out the top seeds, Cheney/Nash, and the Bohannens beat the 2nd and 3rd seeds en route to the final.
