Cooper Cup Level 2/ITF MT700 Day 3, Friday: Rovner, Nichols/Wright, Clay/Fales Win Titles; Remaining Finals Set for Saturday

Draws are here.

Unseeded Allison Rovner from NY won the 45 singles today over Jennifer Fiers the 2nd seed. She also beat the top seed yesterday.

Fiers, Rovner

The 45 doubles is a round robin of five teams and will conclude tomorrow.

The 55 singles final is set between Vicky Buholz of Texas and Tisha Kilburn of Canada. Catherine Morgan won the 3/4 playoff over Sherrill Colombo who had to retire after the two split sets (it was her first singles tournament in years and her second match of the warm and muggy day).

The 55 doubles final is also set between Buholz/Susan Wright and Terri Thyssen/Susan Boyer (who had a bye and last played two days ago).

Thyssen (Texas) and I are playing the 65 singles final tomorrow…we both won in straight sets today, Terri against Lyne Guerer of Canada and I beat Suzanne Siegler.

Siegler, Nichols

Susan Wright and I won the 65 doubles over Kerry Young and Cindy LePrevost. Diane Lavoie/Guerer won the 3/4 playoff.

Wright, Nichols, LePrevost, Young

In the 75s, Toni Novack and Gwenda Ward scored straight set wins to reach the final. Donna Fales (who qualifies for the 85s this year which is really unbelievable) and Carol Clay beat Cindy Babb/Sue Bramlette in the final in a tight two-setter.

I play tomorrow at 10am, Vicky plays at 10:30 and Vicky and Susan play after Vicky finishes. It was another gorgeous day in Fort Lauderdale, 82 degrees, but a bit muggy.
