Leanne and I lost our 55 doubles final to a good team, Anna Benzon who won the 55 singles over Scola and Monica Giamberini, a doubles specialist who also won the mixed. Benzon was steady and Monica whacked her forehand and moved around the net very well. She had a different pace than I was used to anyway! Leanne and Manny won the 60 mixed doubles with a decisive final win.

The doubles started around 11 and was again nearly two hours, so it was a bit late after we took photos and had a drink, nearly 3pm. I decided to go for an early evening walk along the lake and back through the old town. It was much clearer on Saturday…not cooler but lower humidity so the air was much fresher, even with temperatures in the high 80s.
There were a lot of people out along the lake, swimming, walking or just sitting on one of the many red benches which line the lakefront. I walked back first through the small old town, then to through increasingly residential areas. The architecture is a mixture of old, ornate buildings and extremely modern ones.

I’m writing this from the train to the Milan airport, which is a direct train…but I had to change once, as the train that leaves Lugano splits at one point, with the front of the train (where I was sitting) going on to Lake Como and the rest to Milan Malpensa Terminal 1. I didn’t realize that but fortunately there was an announcement in English!
