I had the day off from the tournament in Lugano, but we finished so late last night that I slept late and didn’t get started very early today.
I first watched Leanne play some of her singles final, against a good Spanish player, the #2 seed, Gabi Villar, who, like Leanne, is a lefty and used to the red dirt. Gabi was leading when I left near the end of the first set and won 63 64.

I decided to take the funicular up to Monte Bre, a nearby mountain with normally lovely views and cooler weather. It was really hazy though today, lots of humidity in the air. I walked to the small town of Bre, about 20-30 minutes away (downhill), It has stone houses with red roofs and a beautiful church (The Chinese de San Fedele) and graveyard. There was a panoramic viewpoint on the way down to the village (only 300 inhabitants) with a water fountain. You find these fountains all over the Lugano area, and the water is generally cold and delicious. I filled my bottle before continuing down to the village.
From the village I took bus #12, and the ride down had many sharp switchbacks and lovely views of the lake.

Tomorrow we play what is in essence the doubles final (the team beat our opponents of last night 63 62) second match after a 9:30 doubles match, so around 10:30 or 11 most likely.
Lovely pictures of Lake Lugano! Thanks for posting
