Into the semis in Gandia & A Paella Party

Draws are now back posted in two places (not confusing at all). Here is the original link.

Vicki and I practiced early and actually got to the courts before 8am and had about 50 minutes before having to stop to sweep the court for a 9am mach.

We both played at noon. I had an easy match..the W70 & 75 were combined so I played a 78 year old named Carmen who was lovely…but not very strong. Vicki said her opponent came out firing and not missing…but she adjusted and won 63 60. And she will get to play doubles and is feeling better so that’s all good.

After my match I did a few exercises and stretched and went back to the apartment for a snack. I lost my jacket, and had looked before I left…but was hoping it was here…no such luck. UPDATE: I went back at 7pm and the tournament had found my jacket.

I cooked the giant cauliflower (over a kilo) we bought a couple of days ago (boiled, then baked which turned out ok) and the chicken and mushrooms too, to have on hand.

UPDATE #2: Vicki has singles semis at 10:30 and no doubles till Friday. I do not have a match.

I went to the tournament paella cocktail party tonight. Carmen Perea, after whom the tournament is named (and a nine-time Spanish national champion and Fed Cup stalwart for Spain). There were paella and fideua and some small sandwiches. I tasted the fideua and the paella rice, both of which were excellent. There was a moment of silence for the victims of the terrible train crash in Spain (and I have been on that train route several times).
