Into the Singles & Doubles Semis in Feld Am See

Draws are here.

Today I played my singles and doubles quarters on a pretty nice day for tennis. It was cool but not too cold or breezy, a great day for playing tennis.

I played Sylvia Lievers Kronenburg at a venue that was new to me but nearby, about 5 minutes or so by bike. We played not before noon and got on court around 12:45…could have been worse. It was a small club, three courts, one perpendicular to the other two. In the background, the beautiful Austrian mountains. I won in straight sets but we had some excellent points and a couple of long games too. My opponent for tomorrow, Sylvia Reigl was playing next to us. She’s a crafty lefty. We had an equine audience.

I went to Billa (grocery store) for a few drinks and fruit and then to Hofer (Aldi) for blueberries (giant ones, crunchy and delicious). The Hofer is just down the road about 6 minutes by car.

After putting away my stuff (eating a packet of blueberries) I rode to the main venue, as we were scheduled there at 4:30 for doubles. We were able to play at a nearby court and were starting by 5pm (I had to ride back to get new balls, the tournament gave our opponents used balls for the match by mistake).

We won our doubles…Karien, one of my German teammates played very well and I ran well. Our Austrian opponents, Elfie and Renate were very nice and complimentary.

Dinner again with the Brits, Pauline and Shirley (aka what’s her name) and so far no rain, but I just had a look at the radar and it does not look good!
