Rain Tremblant

Mont Tremblant Draws.

I woke up to rain. Mont Tremblant should be called “Rain Tremblant” I think!

I did some exercises while listening to Radio Roland Garros call the Alcaraz-Zverev men’s final (all the slams have point by point announcing…the Roland Garros and Wimbledon announcers are fantastic, and those at the other slams are good…and it’s free in the RG app). Vicki Buholz and I were scheduled to practice at 10am and 3pm. Around 10 I went over to the Beach Club to check out the court situation as it seemed pretty wet. We added a court at noon, then at 5pm…but it was pouring. I was soaked just walking over to look at the courts.

Vicki took pity on my and picked me up so I didn’t have to walk over to the hotel, where she and Steve had a room with cable TV. We watched the rest of the match, from 1set all and 4-2 Alcaraz, while I did my exercises and Vicki did impressive yoga balancing exercises.

Top left, view from Vicki’s room; the rest are of the courts at the tournament venue…the red clay courts are the ones I’ll be playing on Tuesday.

It was still really wet so I drove back to my apartment, but stopped on the way to check out the other venue…which ended up being dry! Andre from the tournament was working on the courts and said we could practice and we got in just over an hour before it started pouring again, but it felt good to hit.

We drove back to my apartment fortunately just as Toni Novak was driving in, so she didn’t have to go through the angst of finding the apartment and figuring out the code!

Toni and I went to the IGA grocery store to pick up a few things…in Canada milk is still sold in bags (also in cartons); everything here is in French and sometimes in English; the self checkout kiosks were all closed; Canadians must really like their sweets (and their beer and wine even though I didn’t take photos, there was a lot of refrigerated shelf space dedicated to each.

Thus ended day 2 in Mont (Rain) Tremblant. We are hoping to hit at 8am tomorrow…weather permitting.
