Roz King won her first ITF Singles World Championship in the 75s, and will go for the gold in doubles later today with Ria Graham. She beat world #1 Elisabeth Von Boemmel of Germany in three sets, her second win over the German in three tries this year.
John Powless beat his Mulloy Cup teammate George McCabe in the 80 singles final today in straight sets. McCabe, playing with Chuck Nelson, turned the tables on Powless in doubles, winning the world 80 doubles title. Powless played with Richard Doss and it was their first loss of the year.
King Van Nostrand fell in the final of the 75 singles to Giovanni Argentini of Italy, after playing three set singles matches and doubles too on successive days. However, he combined with Peter Froehlich of Australia to win the doubles crown.
Jane Lutz showed no mercy in beating her doubles partner Rita Price to win the 85 singles for her first world title. She remains unbeaten in 85 singles this year.
Margaret Canby won the 80 consolation singles and won the world doubles title with Muffie Grieve of Canada (who also won the 80 singles title).
Lyn Tietz and Nick Ourusoff play the 75 mixed later today after Lyn and Roz play the doubles final.
In Poertschach, Donna Fales reached the final of the 70s in singles, doubles and mixed but today lost to Michelle Bichon of France in the singles final and teaming with Cathie Anderson fell in the doubles final by the narrowest of margins to Heide Orth (GER) and Frances McClennan (GBR) in two tiebreak sets.
Fred Robinson and Roger Guedes, but fell to Canadians Keith Porter/James Cameron in the men’s 60 doubles final.
In Klagenfurt, Brenda Carter and Hugh Thomson took the 65 mixed title today and Carter/Betty Wachob go for the doubles title later today. Thomson plays the men’s doubles final later today as well.
Tina Karwasky easily advanced to the final of the 60 singles, beating Australia’s Kerry Ballard 62 60, where she faces the Netherland’s Nora Blom, a three set winner over Tina’s doubles partner, Mary Ginnard. They won the doubles title there today without dropping a set.

Congratulations to all those wonderful winners playing in beautiful Austria amidst the greenery and mountain caps with a touch of snow! I watched eagles soaring during some of my matches and appreciate your write-ups through the entire tournament. Love the photos and all your help to this old hacker, as well. Looking forward to the final chapter.
