The ITF Individual Championships in Croatia started this week. This is the first time I’ve been able to stay and play the individuals & it’s been a very busy and wonderful experience for me.
After my team winning the Queen’s Cup in the women’s 75 team competition, it was back to the courts and an opportunity for me to play not only doubles but singles as well.
I am now in the singles and doubles semi finals main draw and have played women from South Africa, Germany, France, and Australia – all in three days. I feel like I’ve traveled the world! Everyone has been so nice, friendly on and off the court, but at the same time very competitive on the court.
Today I play the semi’s in the doubles with Carol Wood against a team from Australia and tomorrow I will be playing the singles semi finals against a woman from Austria. I hope to do well in my play the next two days, but regardless of my final placement, I will never forget the wonderful experience of not only playing a high level of tennis, but meeting people from all over the world; being exposed to Croatia & Slovenia both of which have some beautiful vistas, as well as enjoying the camaraderie which has been evident throughout these two weeks.
