Thursday: Finally a Match!

I finally played a match today here in Tegernsee. I played Elizabeth, a local player who was making her ITF tournament debut. She’s only been playing 8 years but had some nice topspin forehands (and is a lefty). We had some good points but I prevailed. After, as is the custom, I bought her a coffee, I had tea and was sat and chatted for a while. Bridget Harrer had a good match with the #3 seed, Dagmar Panner, and lost 62 75, but played well overall. Since there’s only first round consolation, she’s out unless they have enough teams for doubles, which I doubt. My warm up partner, Heidi Eisterlehner won easily today in the 65s.

The weather was fine for playing, though it rained in the evening. It’s supposed to be pretty nice tomorrow though. I play a Czech player next, the #4 seed, Vera Spackova. She’s also a lefty and I played her in Karlovy Vary earlier in the year.

Here’s a photo of Bridget and me and one of Bridget and the other American in the draw, German based Gina Montelone, who Bridget played yesterday.
