USA Advances to Medal Rounds in Men’s 45/50 and Women’s 40/45 Divisions on Monday at ITF Masters World Team Championships in Manavgat, Turkey

Men’s 30: USA beat So Africa 3/0 behind the singles play of Jevin West and Neil Bennett; Bennett/Alan Regula won the doubles point.

Women’s 30: USA was blanked 3/0 by top seeded Germany, not winning a game in singles. Lisa Rauch and Anne Schaeffer (Germany) must be pretty awesome players! The USA players were Mariel Tinnirello (#2 singles), Lay Kushnirovich (#1 singles) and doubles players Monica Hoz de Vila and Erika Takeuchi

Men’s 35 (Italia Cup): USA lost to Argentina 3/0. That red clay is slow in Turkey! Bernabe and Obregon lost at #2 and #1 singles resectively; Cunningham and Wong played doubles.

Women’s 35 (Lenglen Cup): Italy trounced the USA 3/0 but Mariel Tinnirello won a set at #2 singles; Mariana Correa, Evgenia Docktor and Jennifer Sinclair played #1 and doubles respectively.

Men’s 40 (Trabert Cup): USA lost 3/0 to Netherlands though the doubles (played by the same guys who won the singles in straight sets) went to a match tiebreak. Ryan Pang/Ryan Sablan played #2/#1 singles; Darrin Cohen/Sablan played doubles.

Women’s 40 (Young Cup): USA won 3/0 over Ireland but Isabella Iantosca had to go three long sets to win at #2 singles (against Julia McManus who has a British flag next to her name); Mariko Fritz-Krokow and Yulia Bolotova/Anda Perianu made up for lost time, dropping only a game in the next 2 matches. USA advances to the medal rounds and has Tuesday off.

Men’s 45 (Dubler Cup): USA beat Australia 2/1 today. Marvin Colley won at #2; Wojtek Bratek lost a pair of tiebreaks at #1 and Ross Duncan/Bratek took the doubles point in straight sets. USA won their round robin group with this win, have a bye on Tuesday and advance to the medal rounds on Wednesday (to the quarters as there were eight round robin groups).

Women’s 45 (Court Cup): USA dominated Ireland behind the singles play of Patricia Zerdan and Amanda Parson and doubles play of Brandi Bratek/Heather Waters. The team has Tuesday off before starting medal round play Wednesday.

Men’s 50 (Perry Cup): USA beat Poland 3/0 to advance to the medal (knockout) round. Sean Straley at #2 and Oren Motevassel at #1 won singles; Neil Grover/Dana Gill won the doubles point. The team has the day off tomorrow.

Women’s 50 (Bueno Cup): USA beat Portugal 3/0 today; Virginie Poritsky made her Cup debut at #2; Jenny Klitch won at #1 and Klitch/Tracie Currie won the doubles point. They play Germany, who beat Latvia 2/1 today, in their last round robin match.
