Five of the USA teams had a day off Tuesday in Umag. The Men’s 50s team is playing Slovenia and is currently up 1/0 behind the 63 64 win of Sean Straley at #2 singles.Brendan Murphy is contesting the #1 singles and Kline Sack/Straley are scheduled to play doubles.

Afternoon update: From Curtis Dunn:

We gutted out a win against Slovenia, Sean won at #2 6-3, 6-2, Brendon was up 2-0 in the third and cramped and lost 6-2 in the third. And Kline and Sean won a tough three setter in dubs, we play for 13-20 and might play Slovenia again!

The W50 team is into the 1-6 playoff. Despite being the #2 seeds, the two byes are randomly drawn by the ITF. The USA did not receive a bye and faces Austria in the semis tomorrow. If they win they face France in the semis.

The W55 are into the semis, and play Wednesday or Thursday.

The W60 are in a three team round robin with France and Germany. They will play Wednesday or Thursday.

The men’s 50s will play for 17-20 regardless of the outcome of their match today.

The men’s 55 and 60s is into the 1-7 playoff. Since the one bye is randomly drawn they will either start in the quarters (most likely) or semis (if they receive the bye). The medal rounds will begin Wednesday.
