The USA Women’s 80s team, the Doris Hart Cup, beat Great Britain today in Umag, Croatia, to give the USA a second gold medal winning team (the Men’s 85 won yesterday). Dori DeVries won first at #2 singles and Roz King clinched the win at #1 singles. Both wins were emphatic.
The Men’s 70s beat Great Britain today to clinch a 9th place spot. After losing the first day the team won four consecutive matches. Geoff Moore and Brent Abel won the singles point; the doubles is ongoing. (Thanks to Don Clark for the photo).
In other finals, the USA is up 1/0 in the women’s 65 (Kitty Godfree) over Australia; the men’s 65 (Britannia) over Austria and is down 1/0 in the women’s 70s (Althea Gibson) against France. The women’s 65 team is shown below (photo by Carol Clay).

So proud of all our UST teams, for me the Women 80 are a strong statement of how fit and dedicated they are, the men have always been able to play these tour, the 80 division for women are given encouragement for days and years to come, thanks (in part Fran Hunter) and others that have given the SR women a boost in participation .
