USA Wins Women’s 40s (Young) Cup in Turkey; Finishes Third win W30s

The USA Young Cup team beat Germany 2/0 (doubles was not played) to win the Young Cup for the first time since 2011, 14 years ago. Anda Perianu won at #2 singles, brushing aside a 1-6 start to gut out the second 7-5 and bring it home 6-3 in the third. Mariko Fritz-Krokow won two tough sets at #1 singles, 64 75 to clinch gold. Below are the USA 30 and 40 medalist teams.

Remaining matches today:

  • M30 finished 5th, beating Sweden 3/0
  • M35 finished 7th, beating Argentina 2/1
  • M 40 finished 13th, (finishing with three straight wins), beating Japan 2/1
  • M 45 finished 6th, falling today to Czechia 2/1
  • W35 finished 8th, falling 3/0 to Switzerland today
  • W45 finished 7th, beating Australia 2/1 today.

The W30 of course finished third but did not play today.
