Today was a day of practice for the players…I saw the women’s 75 and 80s practicing twice and the men’s 80s once at least. The Aussies were also very keen as were the Canadians. I ran over to the courts and back, a couple of miles and chatted with some of the players there.
We had a meeting in Portschach on “Lake Worth” which normally is a 25 minute drive from Villach. Due to the Harley Davidson parade though, we had a take a roundabout route and also ran into major traffic…it took an hour. I met up in Portschach with the other ITF reps there and ITF referees and ITF staff.
Back in Villach, the referee, Sandor from Hungary, and I got a bit organized for the captains’ meetings tomorrow. Somewhere along the way I lost my laptop charger, but one of the tournament helpers here found a replacement and so I have laptop power and can edit my photos and web page after all…whew!
Tomorrow I move hotels and also help with the captains’ meetings. Following that are opening ceremonies. Monday play begins except for the seeded players in round robin groups of 3. There will be draws posted by the end of the opening ceremonies tomorrow, hopefully for all cups.
All for now…took no photos today.
