WW II Museum; IC Presidents’ Cup Practice & Dinner

If there was one word to describe today it would be “Brrrrrr”! A second would be friendship.

In the morning we went to the World War II Museum in New Orleans, which is huge. We arrived at 9 and walked through some of its many exhibits till about 11, then viewed a 45 minute movie about WWII. If you are in NOLA it’s well worth a visit. I realize how uneducated I am about WWII and plan to read or listen to a book about it soon. It was so huge (hence the name)…China, Indonesia, North Africa, Japan, Europe, Great Britain, USA…so many lives cut short. Our allies then, Russia, China, are no longer allies, and then above them all, Switzerland was neutral (pretty smart are the Swiss).

After a quick lunch we went to the NOLTC to practice. It was really cold today, temps the 40s, breezy. I’m still cold! But Leora Grimshaw and I had a nice practice anyway. In the evening, there was a cocktail party at the Club and then a dinner hosted by the USIC participants.

Tomorrow matches are played from 11-4 and in the evening there’s another dinner.

The IC matches combine good tennis and nice socializing. Erika Smith, Bruce Lipka and Charlie Hoeveler have done a nice job organizing this event.
