Draws for the Super Seniors Individual World Championships (once posted, around mid-October).
September 9, 2021: USTA has pulled all USA Cup teams from this event. The event will take place but there will be no USA, Australian, NZL, GBR, RSA…mostly European teams with a smattering of teams from South American and India (and oddly, the US Virgin Islands).

- Team Event: Sunday, Oct. 10 – Friday, Oct. 15, 2021
- Individual Event: Saturday, Oct. 16 – Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021
Are you eligible to participate? Read the guidelines here. Of particular importance are the following changes which supersede the eligibility requirement and timelines as follows:
- Approved 24-month USTA Category I USTA National Championship eligibility requirement, the option to participate in one USTA Super Category II National Tournament or one USTA Category II National Tournament within the last 24 months or participation in one Designated Open Sectional Championship within the last 12 months to fulfill the eligibility requirement; and
- Approved to lengthen the selection time period for results that will be considered for selection from 24 months to 36 months.

- Team selection posted to USTA.com and players will be notified of their status: June 1 See team selections here.
- All paperwork (excluding travel itinerary) due to USTA staff (including player agreement, media packet, copy of passport, & IPIN): July 1
- Players may make their travel arrangements: August 1
- Travel arrangements due to staff: September 1

The 2021 ITF Super-Seniors (65-70-75-80-85-90* years) World Team & Individual Championships will take place in Mallorca, Spain from Sunday 10 October – Saturday 23 October 2021. The Team Event will take place from 10 – 15 October 2021. The Individual Event from 16 – 23 October 2021.

how does a person apply for the 80’s ?
There will be an application on USTA.com starting April 1st 2021…read the timeline in the post and read the guidelines. I will update this article on April 1, 2021 with a link to the application and it will also appear on the homepage of carolynnichols.com. Assuming of course the events aren’t cancelled again
when will the super senior applicants be posted for the 2021 super senior team?
The deadline to apply is May 10th. So a couple of days after that…by the 13th certainly.

I just turned 80 and am interested in playing in singles tournaments on soft courts. Where can I get a schedule mainly in the Mid-Atlantic area and in the east? Also, what are levels 1,2 & 3?

There are 7 USTA levels of tournaments with Level 1 being the top level (equivalent to a Slam for the pros) and Level 2 being equivalent to a “masters 1000). Level 3 would be ATP 500, Level 4, ATP 250, Levels 5-7 ITF/Challenger level equivalent.
You have to search on USTA.com for adult tournaments then put in parameters (dates and location and surface, and age) for the tournaments you are interested in. There is a national Level 1 in the MidAtlantic area on clay.
When will Fact sheet for super senior cup team be posted and where do we find it
Willie, I will ask the ITF. It should be available here: https://www.itftennis.com/en/news-and-media/articles/2021-itf-seniors-world-championships-dates-locations-information/ about 4 months before the event, so in a week or so. Since the young seniors and seniors cups and super seniors are so close together, no doubt the staff is somewhat stretched. I will post it on my website as soon as they are available though.

This list has not been updated by the USTA; there have been withdrawals, though none that I. know of from the 85s. The players are Carol Wood captain, Dori DeVries, Burnett Herrick and Sheila Palmer. However, all teams have withdrawn except USA so I don’t know what will happen now.
