Today was an interesting one from a weather perspective…it was beautiful with the sun making an appearance; then the clouds came over and it poured…then as quickly as the rain came, it left and the tournament finished with only a two hour delay (and a change of venues).

I beat Francine Pilon today at 11:30. She made a lot of good shots, especially backhand volleys, and hit a lot of lines with her serve which was tough when it came in…and her second serve was better than her first at times. But I prevailed before while the other semifinal was still in the first set. Pat Babcock lost to Jeanie MacEachern 76 64. Jeanie played really well from 0-3 down in the second set. Not long after their match concluded, it started to sprinkle, then pour down rain. But as quickly as the rain came, it ended and the tournament was moved from the Beach Club to the Golf Club about 10 min away. Those courts drain much more quickly as we discovered over the weekend.

I play Jeanie tomorrow at 9am.
Vicki Buholz had a good match against MJ Pachl to advance to the 60 final against Japanese player Motoko Sumi. I took a photo with Motoko and her doubles partner Mayumi Takeuchi today as they were enjoying the sun before the rain.

Helga Immerfall (W70) and Toni Novak (W75) advanced to the finals of their divisions; Mike Rose (M65) and Nick Ourusoff fell in their respective semi and round robin.
We won our doubles against Cindy O’Dougherty and Pat Babcock.
