On the train to Klagenfurt

I am off to play three tournaments in Europe this month, the first one in Klagenfurt, Austria on the Worthersee. I’ts about a 4 1/2 hour train ride from Munich, and the scenery is gorgeous. Much of the ride is in the Austrian Alps, through Linz, Salzburg and a river runs past the train route.

My flight to Munich was fine but started oddly…we boarded the plane, and the passengers were getting their carry on luggage settled, when we were told to deplane because they were short a crew member, (one of the pilots). So we had to get all our stuff, and get off the plane, only to get back on about 30 minutes later! But after that the flight was uneventful, though it landed an hour late, and I missed my train, but was able to change it without too much trouble. Then it was onto the subway to Munich, and the EC to Klagenfurt.

It’s cold here, in the 40s when we landed at 11am…but is supposed to be in the 80s later in the week. It’s dry anyway!

Update: Made it to my hotel all right, and saw the Worthersee which is not too far from the hotel. It was too late to go to the courts. The draw is up and can be found here: http://www.itftennis.com/seniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100025858

It looks like I play on Friday, so I have 2 days to get rid of jet lag!

Here are some photos of the day. The Germans take their chocolates seriously!
